On March 11
th, Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic School hosted its first annual Leprechaun Leap 5k Run/Walk. At 9:00 am,
Delaware County Councilman Dave White spoke at the school fundraising event which brought together the Ridley Township and Swarthmore borough communities.
The St. Patrick's Day celebration kicked off with a fun 5k run/walk through the neighborhood of Swarthmorewood, followed by a 1-mile fun run for kids at the Pritchard Park behind Notre Dame de Lourdes School.
A life-long resident of Delaware County, Dave White was appointed to Delaware County Council in 2012. Previously serving as a Commissioner of Ridley Township for almost 10 years, he worked to create a multi-use development project along Route 291 and was instrumental in the redevelopment of a blighted housing area in the Crum Lynn section. Councilman White is a steamfitter and owner of a small Delaware County business, DWD Mechanical Contractor, Inc.
As part of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Notre Dame de Lourdes School in Swarthmore, PA offers a well-rounded Catholic education for children from Preschool to 8th grade to the parishes of Our Lady of Peace, Our Lady of Charity, St. Rose of Lima, and St. George. In the past two years, Notre Dame faculty have taught two Neumann scholar recipients. Our school is first in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and nation for First in Math, a STEM program vital to the future of our students.
