Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic School in Swarthmore, PA is excited to have its students participate in the upcoming OLP Drama Program production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr!

For those who aren’t familiar with the OLP Drama Program, it was started in 1992 and has a history of producing very impressive shows that are full of talent and professionalism.

These aren’t your average school play grade school--OLP Drama Program secures the rights and royalties for these 'Broadway' plays from a theatrical company based in NY (Music Theater International) and have contracts to adhere to for the performances--which holds them to a level of EXCELLENCE!

You are sure to be impressed by what comes out of this “elementary school” Drama Program. Not only do they bring in a lighting and sound production company, Duffy Productions, who sets up lights and sound in the gym for the performance but they also build beautiful sets that transform the entire space and have detailed props & costumes.

The 2022 Spring show of Beauty and the Beast was originally scheduled for the Spring of 2020, however, due to Covid it was postponed. To say the involved students, families, and production team have been working endlessly and are filled with great anticipation is an understatement!

So much so that even five students from the classes of 2021 and 2020 are returning to the cast due to their hard work preparing yet not being able to perform because of the disappointing but necessary cancelation of the show.


Beauty and the Beast Jr. Production 2020 (postponed)

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr will be performed at the Our Lady of Peace Parish Gym on Thursday March 24th through Sunday March 27th.

You may have witnessed the “Opening Mass Celebration” at Our Lady of Peace Parish’s 11:30am Mass this past Sunday, March 20th. The cast sang a song from the show after Mass and it had the Parish eager for more!

Many Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic School students participate in the OLP Drama Program as the program is open to all OLP parish children attending Notre Dame School or the PREP Program in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. There are no requirements, skills, or qualifications required by the children, other than they live in the parish.

If your student is interested in participating in future productions, auditions typically are held in the Fall and full production begins in January with preparations for the show that include set build & design, costume groundwork, rehearsals and planning for the show.
