Notre Dame de Lourdes will be conducting Terra Nova tests for grades K-7 from March 11 until March 19. The majority of students will test in their regular homerooms, while virtual students will be placed in Covid-19 compliant spaces in the cafeteria.
Terra Nova Testing is a standardized achievement test to measure a student’s performance in reading, English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. The publishers of Terra Nova, McGraw-Hill, assess students’ results based on a norm-reference scale. Instead of students receiving a grade, scores of all students participating in Terra Nova are compared. Each student is then placed in a national percentile.
Typically, Notre Dame de Lourdes sees their students score in the average to above average range for testing. Teachers have employed critical thinking skills through the incorporation of First in Math. This addition’s effectiveness can be reflected by four students receiving Neumann Scholars awards and two scholarships to Cardinal O’Hara High School being given.
